Ugh, the first few responses made my head hurt. I'm kinda old school. I don't really want to know about or think of anyone having sex in my house-except me.
I feel like if you think you are responsible enough to have sex you should be responsible enough to have a place to do it. Also you should have some courtesy with your copulation. But that's just me.

My aunt has an 18 year old son. He's in his first year of college now and he's an only child. He isn't allowed to bring girls home at all.
His parents are both highly educated with degrees from western universities and they are just about as liberal as parents can be.. and yet bringing a girl to the house is just morally wrong to them. I think my cousin himself feels this way too.
But his cousin (my aunt's husband's sister's son) who is the same age, takes his girlfriend to his bedroom and locks the door while both his parents are at home.. (I suppose his parents just sit in the living room listening to the moaning)
Personally, I would have never even considered having sex in my bedroom while my parents were home. There's just something about the idea that feels wrong to me. Then again, I never once "caught" my parents having sex.. so that might have something to do with it.

The taboo against bringing girls home pretty much exists all over Asia, I guess. perhaps ultra-Westernised nations like Japan, which try to be more Western than the West, may be different. But otherwise, even the self-consciously "liberal" are uncomfortable with their children's sexuality. They would rather believe their kids have none.

Well I see things similarly to Grainne. Responsible lovers will find their own partners and their own place to do it. (Or at least convince your lover to do it in a car, or in a bathroom stall)
Taking him/her to your parent's house just seems disrespectful.
Plus, it borders on voyeurism. What if your parents watched you and got off on you having sex with your girlfriend? Would that bother the happy couple?
So kids are just lazy irresponsible little bastards these days, that's my two cents.

It's not that I'm uncomfortable with my children's sexuality, in fact I have gone to great lengths to educate and keep communication open, we talk about it pretty openly. I want them to have sucessful, fufilling sex lives.
I just really don't want to hear it. And I am a bit old school when it comes to being mentally ready and commiting so feelings aren't hurt. That includes some maturity, which also includes to my way of thinking a plan for where you are going to comfortably be and explore with your partner.
By the same token I wouldn't want my adult friends or say, my married sibling staying over and getting it on within hearing. It's just not my thing. It would bug me.
