What would we do without Dr. Phal? I want to hold this one for the Internet theme, which i believe could include virtual game playing, even though i think the underlying subject in your topic is competition; something i would definitely like to explore further at some point in the future.

Actually the underlying subject is that sexuality isn't something that children should be taught to be ashamed of. It amazes me how many parents have come up to me through out the years concerned that their little boy or girl are 'touching' themselves and seem to enjoy it - are their kids going to turn into perverts? I've held the contention that self exploration is a way of developing a healthy attitude towards yourself and that the only concern a parent should have is if this is behaviour is being exhibited towards other children or in inappropriate settings, but hey the competition angle works too!

I was dwelling on the "soccer mom" aspect. End of the day, brain run down but determined to keep tabs on what's happening, i felt a sudden penchant for short sentences. The competitive nature; which i don't feel is generally a natural genetic characteristic at all, but learned behavior; is the subliminal pet peeve in a lot of my work. Competitiveness is the underlying factor in the war between the sexes, the justification used for aggressive actions, and the reason so many people feel they must keep up with or do better than their neighbors. Competitiveness is the reason for psychotic baby stars and little league pitchers with the same tendon injuries as a thirty year old professional league player. A reluctance to compete is why the Anglo/ American society has never really been able to communicate with the Alaskan Native population and why the Native population have not been able to establish a good foothold in corporate management. Hell, i think there are even people who compete to see how many bones they can break. So, anyway, by all means, let the competititive rant begin.

This cartoon makes me wonder, since I have a twelve year old boy that sneaks the game on every minute he thinks I am ot paying attention. My half-an-hour per day rule means jargon to him. I would never think him to be masturbating. But, the other day I realized that sonny-boy was surfing the web a-la-playstation 3. Yes, he's figured out how to browse the internet through the playstation, and somehow contrived this interest in vore cartoons. Characters eating characters. He says it's funny, but c'mon the first time is funny, the second is funny, but the third, fourth, and millionth time? I am disgusted. What is so fascinating about pregnant looking cartoons searching for their next abdominal expansion? I also noticed that the text used in the cartoons is a bit vulgar and sexual. I found myself staring at the mirror in wonderment, one eye brow raised higher than the other, a perplexed zombie type of stare, thinking of a way how I could discuss this issue with him where he doesn't feel embarassed. A way to find out if my son finds his little inhibition sexually exciting or whether the actual action interests him (I sense a gray hair accruing). I rather my son be watching porn and masturbating. He's addicted to vore!!!

Vore, what a funny word. The thing is it is funny to him..over and over again, and probably will be for well....maybe forever. He will move on if he wants to date girls though. I wouldn't worry too much about it beyond what Dr. Phal's creator said, place and time. You don't want him giving a Vore demo to Grandma. There are also cultural considerations which Dr. Phal and his creator don't address. We do need to be able to function and understand the rules of engagement in our own cultures and be sensitive to others.

I had never heard of vore before, at first I thought it was some sort of phonic based slang of a German recreationist, but damn, that's gotta be the strangest fetish I've ever heard of, well other than water sports. The text is sexual and vulgar isn't it? I didn't really notice it until I tried looking at it in a different perspective other than my usual one. I'll garbage this one and re do the theme with a little more tact. I have to totally accept Grainne's point on sensativity though I do it begrudgedly. I used to have a much more sofer stance on the views of masturbation in different cultures until about ten years ago. The family had immigrated to Canada two years before from Syria and I met them right after the father had given his twelve year old daughter multiple contusions, broken her arm and had caned her pelvis black and blue after he had caught her touching herself. I don't believe in violence over cultural or religious beliefs towards another person, touch my beer, then they damn well deserve a beating but the exploration of one's body is not a 'higher' function of the mind, I would almost put it in the ranks of the primitive brain along with our other instinctual reflexes. I do get that its a subject that many just don't talk openly about, but I don't understand it. In terms of sexuality, just as gender identity and preference are innate I would put masturbation as one of those things that are unique to the personality of the person. Geez, I hope that doesn't sound pissy, I'm not trying to be really! I'll go back to the ol' bar stool and see what I can come up with that goes addresses the language and the sensativity issue to keep in mind a wider audience.

Oh by the by, I was starting to feel good about my self editing skills with this one - the other two Dr. Phal's that I did along with this one I knew I wouldn't submit. The first one was on using reverse psychology to teach kids not to have sex by banging your significant other at the breakfast table because kids naturally rebel and do what their parents say they shouldn't so encouraging them to have sex would make them not want to. The second one "Dr. Phal's tour the world without leaving home diet" where he suggested certain meals to have from different countries that would change the flavors so they could role play different stereotypes without a couple having to leave their bed or consider extra marital affairs to satisfy their curiosity. It has occurred to me that perhaps I should find some sort of hobby....

So this is your best effort at self editing.... i think i'll leave it at that. Seriously, other than strong language, which can be viewed with the same degree of aplomb on South Park, i couldn't call this offensive. I hesitate to think we could become so politically correct as to monitor our language out of respect for parental guidance. My main concern is always the internal message and in this case, i think the message is very good. Now, where are those Internet articles?

Hey I did my twittering which I expect DrPhal and/or Mitch to attack any moment. Maya is doing addiction right? What else would you like to see addressed. I have a pet peeve....Grannies invading my blogs and joining the fray... I mean I don't mind but when they come to tell me they are going to pray for me and maybe I should take up baking and get more serious about my Friday 5 instead of making fun of everyone's spring fling fantasies, then I get grumpy. Grannies by the way infultrating writing groups is why I have quit a lot of them. Now don't get all grumpy. I guess they don't have to be grannies. There are kick-ass grannies, I almost became one last month. I just picture the sterotypical knitting in lap and stickers of that hallmark lady on everything and flowers and such when these women get in my space. Okay, that's enough ranting.

Should I junk this Phal and have him interview an internet granny? I hear ya on them - I get private messages all the time that they only heard what I wrote for the friday 5 and they are not going to read it but shame on me - hell when I posted the erotica and Club stuff I got death threats. Why don't these people want their opinion to be public, it's damn annoying that I get to zing them and no one can see it. And why the hell do I see grainne as the sort of granny that Jane Curtain portrayed in "Cry baby"?
And I did do a good job editing - the new strip went on for six pages on Phal ranting about the dangers of government regulation of the internet, the global differences, the lobby interests and the elitism that a regulated internet would entail! I am working on the articles, I'm just having a hell of a time trying to put in third person that people who belong to a private gallery actually shell out $300 to watch some guy paint their portrait with his dick and then pay another $250 to have the minimalistic interpretation sent to them. Got any smarty farty ways to say penis painting and make it sound classy?

Now, now. Dr. Phal is going to develop a complex if you keep shelving his discussions, although i do like the idea of him battling it out with crusading granny. My mother had a wonderful word for penis. My younger brother, who had very little propriety, would often unconcernedly take a piss outside the living room window. My mother would rap and say, "your iniquities are showing." For the longest time i thought the meaning of the word, "iniquities" was penis.
