I may consider flying again if models like this do make the market: travel.usatoday.com/flights/post/2011/06/airbus-aircraft-of-the-future/174521/1I have no doubts that improvements will be made, they have to be to keep consumers in the air, but it's kinda cool to see some of the advances that were pitched to us as kids on George Jetson are making their way to real life. Of course I will never get rid of my trusty bicycle which I can power and work on myself, but still...

It looks fantastic until you read down to the concluding paragraphs and its casual comments about concept design. The airlines are most likely to sacrifice comfort for space; enough space to squeeze on a few more passengers. I don't see people going on strike against the airline companies any time soon; especially for the sake of an entertainment bar and piano. They fly because it's the quickest way to get from one point to another. Trains are more comfortable. Cars are more comfortable. Ships are definitely more comfortable as long as you don't get seasick.
I think though, that humankind is destined to become an air being. Any clear day, i see ultra-lights swimming through the air, wind surfers skimming the inlet, hang gliders sweeping down from the mountains, new technologies in parachuting. It's the big reason i want to reincarnate. If i return in the future, i want to own a pair of wings.

If it's too economic and too comfortable, then the airlines companies will never back it.
