I mean this in the most sincere, loving sense, but if I started a forum/site that had as few regulars and readers as subversify after four years, I would be thinking that maybe something's wrong? I mean, there aren't even any trolls on subversify!! (except myself of course) Believe me this is very odd. I remember back when the only message boards on the whole net were usenet, and the entire population of the Internet wasn't a fraction of what it is today, but even then the most boring newsgroups were overflowing with conversations and plenty of trolls. But don't worry, I can help! Would you like to show nude pictures of me on the site? I think it might attract some females and possibly a lot of gays.

Here's the plan First you reel them in with pornography, then when their unsuspecting innocent minds are hooked, you brainwash them with dark subversive thoughts and ideas. *evil smirk*

That's what I've always said, but working with two female editors, it's hard to get ideas through.
Maybe a nude pin-up calendar of you and Tony would help though.

Personally, I blame Facebook for stealing thunder from forums in general.
That, and most people are afraid of intellectual discussions.
By all means though, people, tell your friends about Subversify!

Ai, Asi, that sounds like a game plan. I'm also thinking virtual lap dances and fertility rituals would help, but so far i haven't gotten a response from Volunteers for Lewd Dancing. It is weird that we get as many guests as we do, yet none of them crack open with a little wit or sundry thought, but actually i've seen a lot of forums go down with the activation of Facebook and shared blogging spots like Multiply. I guess a blogging page makes everyone feel like a king with a kingdom, but i also think that most these blogs, no matter how brilliantly composed, go primarily unnoticed other than a handful of fans because there are so many bloggers and they all want individual attention. I've tried them all; forums, blogs, web pages, but this has come the closest in agreement with me. The forum doesn't generate many comments, but it does serve well as a workshop and our content at our web page can't be stolen by an unscrupulous company as it's copyright protected. It's true that i write because it's my passion, whether i make money at it or not, but if anyone is going to make money off my writing, i want it to be me.

That, and most people are afraid of intellectual discussions. I think you're right Mitch. But then what kind of discussions do you think people are interested in? In my experience, people seem to be much more interested in character assassination than any kind of meaningful debate. It's like "Hey! You are obviously just a flawed human being. So please stfu mmk?" My friends are really too busy dealing with real life issues to spend time on the Internet; so I chat up the worthwhile forums and occasionally tell them stories where I just basically recapitulate the discussions.

I learned a long time ago that Internet forums are gladiator battles. People come to fight, to intimidate and to destroy. Of course, even in battle people do form alliances for protection. And perhaps that is what we are here. I don't really have many friends in "real life". I find most people boring. So consider yourselves flattered.

I do have a few nude photos of Tony if you guys want to go the porno route... I think it would be great good fun and he wouldn't mind. I'm not so sure how much the lurkers would like it though.

Should I ask how the hell you got a hold of those? (Er, the pictures, I mean...not Tony's uh...)
I think an AB Thomas calendar would be a great seller. He's babe-bait.

Haha! Mitch he gave them to me. He's very proud of them. Actually I think we used one with a discreet "tuck" in one of his stories.

And OMG yes! A.B. is for some reason babe bait, he's already had a stalker turn up at his house.
Also if we did it without his permission, he could act all disgruntled and you know how well that works for TMZ.

How about a whole month of sex-related articles? I can think of a few dozen taboo topics that might make good topics. Would acknowledging porn addiction warrant internet censorship? Rapists and child molesters: should society find empathy ? What sexual behaviors are harmful to society? Subversify can question the sexual taboo head on...
