SH, the forum was originally started as a primary means of communication between staff members, fans and contributors. However, in recent months, Facebook and Twitter have been stealing some of the thunder of the forum. www.facebook.com/pages/wwwSubversifycom/313931957443twitter.com/#!/Subversify In addition, some of our regular contributors now insist on formatting their own stories directly, or email them to staff members in Microsoft Word. That, and of course, the Subversify main website, which is also a hub of commenting. But we still check the forum If you really want a number of responses, write a feature for the magazine! You seem like a smart person, more than capable of raising an intelligent conversation.

Then please make use of this forum. One or the other of us will join in the conversation most of the time. It always sparks us giving us ideas.
Also on the point of guests, sometimes the guests are actually us if we don't have time to sign in.

They practice species discrimination at facebook so I don't go there either. They want all their dogs to go to war, and I have cave duties to perform! Now, with Santa Dog coming, I have to be especially on the alert for Nazi cats who try to destroy the magic tree the pack leader is building and that raid all the treats.

At some point it might be worth ditching the proboard and working towards one of the wordpress boards. This way the forum can be directly incorporated with with the wordpress theme and Subversify would have 100% ad control. Revenue + control over content placement = big plus for the forum. At the time subversify was kicked off we actually had a crude forum in place but I think everyone agreed it sucked. Now wordpress has a bunch of slick new forums. Just a matter of getting them up - which is always a headache.

A good idea.
The basic answer remains however, a forum is only a fun place to be if people are there participating. So, if everyone wants it to be less "dead" they need to contribute.
