You heard it first on Subversify; the corruptive practices of foster child placements. What did i see at Yahoo news today? Low and behold! An article on youthful house maid trafficking!
news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081228/ap_on_re_af/the_slave_next_door
Although the article limits its victims to African shipping, the same mentality that will buy a child for domestic chores will dip into foster care funds. Let's begin opening that can a little wider. With a faltering economy, how many more people will be tempted to choose the option of government sanctioned child labor? How many other foreign countries have already begun the lucrative practices of selling their children off to the highest bidder? Morals are so often dictated by convenience. The same people who whistle blew on ANWR now consider it a salvation to our National debt. The same people who cried child abuse now harbor juvenile domestic servants with the justification that they are better off where they are than the homes they had been brought up in. This issue will not go away with a single exposure. It must be brought up again and again until consciouness is raised and something to improve the conditions has been done.
I'm waiting on some Strawman documents owned by a friend before pursuing my own article on foster care, but i would think our comedians could come up with some good satire, a commentary or bit of fiction. I promise, if you can make this a laughing matter, i will not penalize you with a five hundred word essay. From the magnaminous pits of my heart, i've designated only shoe throwing articles to the penalty box this month.
