I have spent a lot of time recently researching on-line e-zines and newspapers and a trend I have noticed is lively ones who get the return visitations that are so desireable are ones in which the actual author of a piece checks back in and responds to comments on their piece. Don't believe me? Do the research yourself. But if you don't have time go through our own archives and look for the longest threads they will invariably have author responses to what is written. I think we need to take responsibility for this when we write and commune with our readership. It's a trend thing and we want to make this place last right? Let's make it a rule.

I'm in compliance. I've also noticed the sites that generate the most interest were the ones in which the writers kept a close correspondence with their reader responses. Of course, it sucks though when you receive no comments at all, but one step at a time i say.

It does suck, when you don't get responses but I have noticed Mitch in particular being ever vigil to at least say nice work...we can all do that. However guest writers are not as good at keeping up discussion and we maybe should ask them to do so at least once a week while their piece is up.

I am wondering why this was moved to a private area if we are going to discuss encouraging it to be a rule?

Yeah, I guess you're right Grainne. On instinct, I just thought it sounded like a private conversation, but it can be public too. No big deal. Go easy on me, I had a bad day !

I'm tempted to go all Daniel Powter on your ass and sing "Had a Bad Day" but I couldn't even bring myself to do it....Instead I picked up where the House Hobbs are singing...just for you Mitch, "You Gotta Have Friends" Donkey style of course...(as in Shrek; don't get all weird) Sorry you had a bad day. Loveth you and all your work, I am your biggest fan.

Now, i've got "Hadda Bad Day" stuck in my head. My daughter likes to sing it. That light, high cheerful voice sounds so incongruous skipping unconcernedly over the words. Those bad days suck. I've been getting a lot of time consuming days, which aren't bad of themselves, but that make me irritable when i feel they are encroaching on my personal space.

Well, the one unescapable universal truth is that everything changes...so at least Aug. won't be the same.

I guess life "Sucking" depends on your perspective. I think i am grateful for too many good things in my life to spend my days dwelling on the negative. I woke up today. I have use of my legs. There is air in my lungs and a tune on my lips. There is opportunity to start again. ......Or maybe I've been reading too many "Chicken soup for your Soul" books haha Comments on posts are good... I tend to be a lurker on the main page and read articles but keep my opinion to myself. I'll try to not be so shy I guess

But you didn't get RUN OVER. You are still walking. Breathing. You aren't in a wheelchair right now. Your car still works, still drives. You have someone proving that they are a good friend by offering to see if they can fix it. Plus......you have me...to kick you in the butt and say stop being such a damn pessimist! Aren't you the luckiest man ever? hahaha
