edition.cnn.com/2012/03/05/world/meast/iran-nuclear/Who else thinks it's absolutely certain that the US owns Mr. Amano? I think if Iran gets its nuclear power plants up and running, all the rich arab countries in the middle east will do it too. I think the arab kings will actually lose face in front of their people if the persians stray too far ahead.. you should see what happens to the coach when an arabian soccer team loses to an iranian team.. the arabs will demand his execution!

If you ever decide to visit Iran, I recommend coming here during the lunar month of Ramadhan. That's when the whole country fasts every day from dawn to dusk for a month.
There's a whole lot of free food and the general mood of the country is also different than usual during this month. Although there are atheist towns here and there (like where I live half the year) where they don't fast or celebrate ramadhan. But where they do, the crime rates fall to near zero for the month and people become really spiritual and stuff
And because ramadhan is a lunar month, it moves around the solar year.. it's in summer now but in a few years it'll be in spring.

Fascinating glimpse, SH. Not much to say in response but I appreciate you explaining the lifestyle over there.
My ex-Iranian friend once told me that he can't go back because of his new Christian faith. (He used to be Muslim) Maybe he's just confused since he's been in the US for so long.

Nobody asked me about my religion when I came here. But if your friend decides to come to Iran, and if they ask him what his religion is (which they won't) he should be smart enough to just say he's a muslim.. it's not like they're gonna test him or anything.
Just FYI, Iran is full of Bahaiis today, and they live here in peace. The bahaiis are followers of Bahaullah; a man who claimed he was the Mahdi. (ie. he claimed he had disappeared off the face of the earth ~1200 years ago by god's will, and god had sent him back to save mankind)
In terms a western man can understand, this guy essentially claimed he was the second coming of christ. He claimed to be the Messiah.
By law, bahaiis who go around trying to convert others to their faith can be executed without a trial in Iran. But this never actually happens. If they are caught, they get deported -- and the US is happy to accept them. Apparently, the US and Israel hold the world's largest Bahaii population after Iran.
I think there's no doubt at all that Bahaullah was a jackass. And his followers must be the dumbest people on earth.. How can these idiots still believe that Baha was the messiah, when he's dead??
They invited me to one of their parties and tried to convert me a few years back. There were lots of pretty girls at the party and they made it seem that if I joined their religion, all the hot girls would be my friends.. they told me that if I became a Bahaii I would be easily granted asylum in the US or Israel. When I heard this I realized what they were doing.. They look for Iranian youths who aren't satisfied with their life in Iran (who aren't getting enough pussy) and get them to join their cult, which is based in Tel Aviv and southern cali. Then once you become a member, you have to go out looking for other prospective members to convert..
They promise you all the pussy you can fuck and all the money you can spend, which they will probably deliver if you bring them enough people to convert..
It's a really sad and pathetic cult IMO.. obviously the work of Zionism.
Personally, I think the Iranian government is justified in deporting these scumbags.

I was just reading about Bahai and Baha Ullah. Although it is weird they were promising you pussy, since one of their fundamental teachings is no free sex or alcohol.
I can see why they think their Ullah prophet is cool, since they consider death an entrance into a spiritual realm rather than an end. They seem hippie-like in description, but with a dash of moralism thrown in.
But no one's denying they're crazy.

The Bahaiis in Iran aren't really a religious group IMO. Their religious beliefs are basically copied from Islam.. But then why should they need to be separate if they believe in all the same things? (which they do.)

So today the front pages of quite a few news papers read things like "parliament sets 110 gold coin limit on mahr" or "3400 mahr-prisoners to be released this week; thousands more still behind bars."
Apparently the Majlis has approved a bill whereby if a woman's mahr is over 110 gold coins, the husband will not be sent to jail.. this is supposed to encourage women to settle for 110 coins.
One of them also discussed a certain case where a man, now in jail, owes his ex-wife 124,000 gold coins.
And one woman was demanding that her husband give her 32 of his teeth, as they'd agreed upon before getting married. It seems the judge had tried to change her mind but she wouldn't budge..

edition.cnn.com/2012/03/08/world/meast/israel-iran-relations/index.html"Israel even supplied weapons to Iran to help it fight Iraq, Abrahamian and other analysts say. And Israeli warplanes bombed a nuclear reactor in Iraq in 1981, an act seen as beneficial to both Israel and Iran." wtf? "His rhetoric stoked fears in Israel and elsewhere that a major world leader would want to destroy the Jewish state." Ahmadinejad is a major world leader now..

All this media attention is starting to freak me out. What are they really building at?
When will it stop?
Is this the prelude to war? I don't see any meaningful information contained in any of these articles, or in their sum total..
I just don't see what the media is trying to accomplish with Iran.. If all this is about war then it's just childishly transparent, and the media giants must be absolutely stupid

www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-pakistan-iran-pipeline-20120309,0,7162988.story At first glace I think to myself "isn't there anything more important going on in the world for american media to be covering?" But then it hits me "these people need oil; hence what's happening in the middle east is probably the most important thing to them." I can just see it happening.. the price of gas will be driven so high in the states that the people will rise up and demand military action against Iran.. I think it's possible we're living at a very sensitive and historic time.. people will very likely be studying the events of this era far into the future (if we survive) The godfather's on.. gonna watch it for the 5th time. When I was a kid I dreamed of becoming a crimelord when I grew up.. I wanted to have my own criminal empire one day. *sigh*

I have some stuff to say about the dissent and opposition movements in Iran.
I was on the streets in Tehran last year during the protests with a couple of friends and we were on mescaline, so rest assured we saw everything very clearly. The year before that I was in the city but I couldn't go out because I had broken both of my legs in an accident.. I received plenty of firsthand reports from close friends pretty much every day of the demonstrations though.
Ok, so I'll start by saying that I think there's two basic types of dissidents in Iran. The first is the people who possess varying degrees of awareness about what's going on, and the second are the people who are absolutely clueless.
Last year on the streets of Tehran, I saw a bunch of well-fed, well-groomed and well-dressed young men and women who were basically saying "why can't Iran be more like american movies and tv shows?"
These are IMO people who are so deeply stupid and ignorant that they believe the west (a place they've never been) is better than Iran for some reason, and so they want the Iranian government to make friends with the US (ie. bow down) so that beyonce and lady gaga will start performing concerts in Iran and so American cars will be imported and available.. Basically, these protestors are all essentially (~upper) middle-class youth who have no idea what's going on internationally or domestically, and don't care either. All they want to know is why there are no american cars in Iran and why there are no stripclubs in Tehran where they can drink and hang out at..
In short, these people's ignorance is being manipulated by the US with the hope that they will bring down the regime in Iran..
These idiots we saw on the streets here wouldn't be able to survive a week without their daddy's money.. And anyone who has a brain in Iran supports the government; ie. politely points out flaws and engages in constructive criticism and debate to make Iran better.. But what I saw on the streets was a bunch of idiots breaking windows, bashing cars, destroying public property and attacking law enforcement aimlessly.. morons.
